My son has just come back from a week climbing in the Swiss Alps. His sister and his father knew but no-one told me. I knew that he was going but not when and the rule is to ring home before he goes off on one of these expeditions and ring when he gets back. Still - he's home, safe and sound, and I've had two visits from him this weekend .... which was lovely.

BTW I can sympathise with you about your rules for your son. My younger brother is also a climber who has travelled to the Alps & Himalayas. I feel happy when I know he's returned safely too.
