Something To Crow About ...

Rosie and Linda's Awfully Big Art Adventure this week is all about Crows. I don't have any images of Crows but I do have a plate of Blackbirds by Invoke Arts., and apart from anything else all I could hear in my head since reading the girls' Blog was that Nursery Rhyme - lol. I spent the whole afternoon, with an idea in my head and messing around with the stamps and making masks of birds and then - nothing, zero, zilch - the idea had completely come to nothing.
I wandered off and had some comfort food (two slices of sardines on toast, an apple and two strawberry filled mini rolls) and came back to it - and voila - that Nursery Rhyme. I am going to put this somewhere safe and at some stage, make a book of Nursery Rhymes for The Gorgeous One (aka Finley William) ....

Tag you're It Challenge .... Colour Theme

Here's another Challenge I found yesterday over at the Weekend Taggers ....
The Colour Theme is Lime, Teal and Black. Lime and Black were OK but I had to visit that shaggy dog paint site to check out Teal - teeny weeny problem not a lot of Teal in my stash - but not to worry .... onwards and upwards ....I used one of those extremely large Luggage Tags and covered it with a Teal(ish) card. To make more Teal I edged the Tag with Versacolour Pacific ink- sorry that was all the Teal I could muster - lol. The image is by Inkadinkaoo and the lady's hat was stamped again on Lime Green card. The tickets are all by Invoke Arts and complete the Lime Green element. All the stamping was done in Black with a bit of Black ric-rac.
I have to say, I love this one ... I hope you do to ....

The Bingo Card image is from Stamps Happen. The ladies and the dice are from Oxford Impressions and the ticket from Invoke Arts. Each piece is stamped on cream card and coloured with Old Paper and Milled Lavender Distress Inks.
Hope you like it ....

In My Pocket ... There is a Little Bird ...

Here's my pocket to go to Hels In My Pocket weekly Challenge ....

The papers are from my scrap box (my personal challenge is to use all those bits for the Challenges I take part in). The Bird images are from Invoke Arts, the Ledger Stamp is one of my favourites from Stampers Anonymous and the Fern is an Imagina Clarity stamp which I have had for ages and is great for filling in.
Here is the inside. Actually it's not a little bird but a big one! There was no way that 4 & 20 would fit in there! ...
I hope you like it ......

Singing with the Birds

This is a project I did some time ago and want to share. The idea was from a Sue Roddis article in a past issue of Craft Stamper.
The Bird House is a bought one which was sanded, covered in gesso and then acyrlic paint was swiped on using an old credit card. Bits of corrugated card were swiped with gesso for more texture. The tree trunks were burnt on using the Hot Marks tool (something I bought ages ago, thinking I have got to have one of those!).
The stamps are from Invoke Arts plates and the roof 'tiles' are a Stampington stamp - Ledger (or something like that!) - I use it quite a lot. Other embellishments were the letter beads, cut out letters and die cut folk hearts.Sticking everything to the Bird House was interesting - Copydex (not too bad), Superglue (try doing that in surgical gloves!) and Hipstick (a disgusting pumbling adhesive) for the glass tiles around the edge of the roof.
I see these ideas and make them (generally buying even more stuff!) and then think - what am I going to do with it (having bought two bird boxes because I am incapable of buying anything singly!). This one, however, is going to be a gift. An older friend of mine soon has a birthday and she has loads of houseplants. I think this will look great nestled in amongst them.
Sorry about the photos and the layout of them - have yet to get to grips with that.
Hope you like it .....
